"A Wonderful Experience”
"Our first time to a B&B was wonderful. The hosts Mary & Alberto were gracious, helpful and fun. Great location, steps to the beach, close to KalHaven bike trail, and short walk into town. The home was cozy with stories waiting to be told. A true labor of love." from Trip Advisor May 2014
"Best Value in South Haven”
"Spent 3 nights here and would definitely return. Mary and Alberto could not have been more hospitable. Great room with amazing king size bed, wonderful filling breakfast with homemade bread and the coziest atmosphere throughout the Inn. Beautiful beach less than a block away as well as short walk into downtown..." from Trip Advisor September 9th, 2013
"Rejuvenation for the body, mind, and soul”
"Emmy & I needed some rejuvenation time and took off West from Erie for places unknown. What a super surprise awaited us as we found our way to South Haven, MI, the LAST RESORT INN and the owners, Mary & Alberto. This INN was exactly what the doctor ordered: body, mind and soul rejuvenation. One doesn’t usually obtain all those necessary ingredients at the same time. Then again, one doesn’t stumble upon such a place as The Last Resort. Talk about “Home Sweet Home” or “Home away from Home”, this is it. Old Home Warmth with sweet, fresh an clean rooms. The food was creative, delicious and plentiful. Now that’s what you expect from any good B&B. Now throw in some very exciting musical entertainment by Mary and Alberto (and sometimes a visiting guest or two), and you have soul healing entertainment. And if that wasn’t enough, then enjoy some very interesting and enjoyable art by Mary & Alberto. WOW, what a place. Home, entertainment and art; real healing for the mind, body and soul. We met guest that have been going there for over 20 years. So if you are looking for a little piece of Heaven , then we see you there. George & Emmy" from Trip Advisor July 11, 2013
"Adorable and Relaxing”
"The adorable B&B I stayed at, The Last Resort Inn, was only two blocks from the beach. It was never too crowded, outside of my last day when everyone camped out early to grab spots for the fireworks that were later that night. You could see the lighthouse and watch the sailboats come in and out of the marina. It was incredibly relaxing and just what I needed. And the best part? It was less than four hours from Indy.from Melanie July 9th, 2013
"The Last Resort, will last in your memories...fond ones of course!!”
"First time in South Haven, and I have to say that this was a pleasant surprise! Decided to go the B&B route as this would also be a first for our family. Absolutely with out a doubt recommend this B&B!! First off it is spotless...and I mean sparkling clean. The kitchen and dining area is a dream, spotless, old fashion charm, beautiful art work and photographs. We stayed in the Glenn, two bedrooms, perfect for families. The common area is tastefully decorated with antiques, a wide range of reading material, very comfy cozy...
This B&B is surrounded by beautiful homes, clean environment, 2 minutes to a magnificent beach, 10 min walk to down town which is offers a little bit of every thing...a marina, a light house, excellent restaurants, shopping, pubs...etc etc!!! Over all excellent for families and couples!!" from Trip Advisor August 10, 2012
"Wonderful Choice for Summer Trips”
This Inn has become my choice for short trips to the South Haven/Saugatuck Michigan area. I love the choices in rooms, ranging from small "apartments" that have hot tubs, fridges, and balcony porches, to double rooms that have 2 bedrooms connected--great for travel with a friend or adult child, to single rooms, with a great range of prices. Although old, the hotel is charming and comfortable, and even on really hot days, your room can be as cool as you wish. The beach is practically at your door, and you can see Lake Michigan from upstairs windows. It's a great beach for walks, windsurfing, swimming, sandcastles, and sunsets…
It's a great place to go with a small group, or on your own. I always have a great time--when going solo, I often make friends with other guests. I've been in all their different types of rooms, depending on whom I'm traveling with. Within walking distance to downtown events/restaurants, sailing, biking and so on.
Room Tip: Rooms on the lake side have a beach view, but the harbor side has a nice view of the river and boats... from Trip Advisor July 26th, 2012
"Cool Old B and B Hotel”

"Great B and B Close to the Beach”
We were there about a month ago and the setting is beautiful. They have done wonders with a house this old! It was very comfortable and the location is perfect. I was here when I was in my teens and hadn't been back for about 20 years. Mary remembered my previous visits and we had a wonderful time, they treated us like family!! from Trip Advisor June 26, 2012
"Family Friendly and Fun”
My company celebrated its 10th anniversary by treating the whole office and their families to a weekend at The Last Resort. We took over the whole place and the kids almost outnumbered the grown-ups, but Mary and her staff were great! Nothing but friendly, gracious and attentive. They have a music room that the kids really enjoyed. Easy access to the beach, shopping and area attractions. Highly recommended! from Trip Advisor June 24, 2012
"Friendly, Fun, and Fabulous”
This was our first trip to South Haven and to the Last Resort. We will absolutely be back! Mary is friendly and a gracious host!
Just a quick walk to the beach areas and a short drive or walk to the downtown area. The wonderful wildflowers in the landscaped yard are inviting and bring an artistic quality to the outside of the house. I’m appalled that someone would call them weeds!
We enjoyed sitting and talking for hours on the porch with our new found friends we made there. Our room was comfortable and fresh smelling. The air conditioner worked well and we slept like babies! It was indeed our “Favorite” room as the name implied! Since we were there in the middle of the week, we got a chance to peek in to the various rooms available. They were all bright, cheery and inviting!
The breakfast had many choices to accommodate any palate. We loved the fresh fruit cup and bagels! They even provide small bags of ice for your evening drinks on the front porch!
Room Tip: Some rooms have a Jacuzzi, some have more than one bed. Hot water was plentiful. from Trip Advisor June 22, 2012
We were thrilled with the location of The Last Resort Inn, as well as the price, comfortable room and healthy breakfast. Once we parked at the inn, we did not use our car again until we checked out. The inn is directly across the street from North Beach and a very short walk to the restaurants and shops in town. The Favorite room was the perfect size for 2 and the bed was very comfortable. It was also very quiet, we did not hear any other guests or outside noises while in our room. We will definitely be back! from Trip Advisor May 25, 2012
"After falling in love with this B&B and wanting to recommend it to other worldly travelers, my husband and I found the weekend get-away to be exactly what our spirits were yearning for: laid-back ease, lake views from the room, strolls to near-by restaurants and pier, and lots of love... and all very much affordable. I have already recommended this place to friends and family for quick get-away's to a small resort town on the Lake! They have a bike rack too."
Wine at Sunset
"My wife and I have visited at the Last Resort (LR) each summer over the past 10 years. Most certainly, the LR is quite different from all the other Inns in the area!! LR Inn is a block to the beach and has a front porch that is an incomparable place for a glass of wine at sunset! And yes, the furniture is eclectic. yes, the gardens are kind of an organized beautiful wildness ...and yes, Mary, the owner/innkeeper, is an, exuberant lovable character! Good-natured... but... if you've been to beach please wash the sand off your feet before you come in the house! For us the LR Inn is a fun getaway place. Rooms are small but clean and comparatively speaking, ... inexpensive. No TV or internet which is exactly what I'm vacationing from! Breakfast is not a sit down four -course meal .. more of a continental approach which suits me because if we're real hungry we love the local flavor of the Phoenix Street Cafe. In all the best ways, LR Inn reminds me of visiting my Aunt Dolly's lake cottage as a child! "
